September was a good month for New Things:
I had a very small story up on Paragraph Planet!
And I started the much anticipated Comma Press Short Story Course! Read the first blog I wrote for them here Leeds Short Story Course Guest Blog – Workshop 1 and the next instalment here Leeds Short Story Course Guest Blog – Workshop 2
Also as well in addition my story ‘Receipts’ which appeared in Spelk over the summer got a surprise mention in this brilliant article Unusual Structures in Flash Fiction — Part I by Sophie van Llewyn for TSS Publishing. There are loads of great links to some superb flash – well worth a look.
And finally… I donned some dark glasses (not really) for my open mic debut at an ‘At The Movies’ themed night run by Fictions of Every Kind, Leeds’ longest standing literary social. I managed to read my screen-inspired story without knocking their lovely lamp over and came home with a fabulous ‘film-lit’ reward! A great evening with some talented fellow open mic-ers, an ever so entertaining house band and some superb guest speakers. Hoping to make the next one on 26/11.
